A Castle Built on Romance, Shaped by Time

Over a Century of Heritage. Over 30 Years of Hospitality Excellence.

Perched above Windhoek with panoramic views of the city and surrounding highlands, Heinitzburg stands as a proud symbol of love, legacy, and luxury.

Originally built in 1914 by German architect Wilhelm Sander as his private residence, the castle soon found new ownership in Hans Bogislav Count von Schwerin. In honour of his fiancée, Margarethe von Heinitz, he renamed the estate Heinitzburg — a romantic tribute that continues to define the soul of the property.

The architecture, inspired by medieval European castles, features turrets, battlements, and stained-glass windows — a striking fusion of European charm in the heart of Africa.

More Than 30 Years of Family Hospitality

In 1993, we, the Raith family — led by Beate Raith and her late husband, renowned chef Jürgen Raith — acquired Heinitzburg and began its transformation into one of Namibia’s most prestigious boutique hotels.

With an unwavering commitment to preserving the castle’s historical integrity, the family has masterfully blended old-world charm with modern luxury. For over three decades, Hotel Heinitzburg has welcomed guests from around the world, offering bespoke service, refined comfort, and exceptional culinary experiences.

Today, the hotel is still family-run, now led by Beate and her son Tibor Raith, a classically trained chef who continues the family’s passion for excellence.

More than a stay — a legacy you become part of.

More Than a Hotel — A Living Legacy

Heinitzburg is not just a place to stay. It is a piece of history, a family’s devotion, and an experience that stays with you long after your journey ends.

A castle born from love. A tradition built on excellence. A destination beyond expectation.

We invite you to be part of our story — a story written in stone, shaped by love, and brought to life every day by over 30 years of dedication to excellence.
